We are not doctors. We're not nutritionists, we're not dieticians, we're not nutrition researchers. We follow nutrition news in the press, and we often have to change our minds about the specifics of what's healthier based on our recent reading.
That said, we will be surprised if it turns out that we should be eating less fruit and vegetables, less whole grains, less beans.
We know that we need healthy lipids but must also control our calories. So we find ourselves saying that we're making something "healthier" if we cut back the proportion of fat even if the fat's a good one, like olive oil. We hope that advice in layman's language on targets for healthy fats will appear soon, and when it does, we'll try to incorporate it in our cooking and on alteRecipes.
